Fort Albany First Nation is a community in Northern Ontario, Canada, situated on the southern shore of the Albany River and partly on Sinclair Island. The community of Fort Albany is located in the Cochrane District, which is on the west coast of James Bay. Most of the community resides on Sinclair Island of the Albany River and the rest of the community is on the mainland and Anderson Island. Fort Albany is situated 450 km north of Timmins and 700 km north-west of North Bay and accessible by air and winter road/ice road. Fort Albany is 128 kilometres north-west of Moosonee by air. Fort Albany is policed by the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, an Aboriginal based service.

Our Mission


The Mission of Peetabeck Academy is to help young minds grow and learn in a harmonious environment resulting in the all-round development of the child. The seed of success lies in the development of basic human characteristics in a child. The characteristics that define his personality and create a fuller human being in him. They are- command over Communication and Mental Arithmetic, Sportsmanship and Team Spirit, keenness to learn and experiment, an ability to appreciate various Arts and a tendency to acquire further knowledge in various sciences or arts to make a living. In addition to this, an attractive personality and knowledge of social etiquettes further enhance his chances of success in today's world. To achieve this, Peetabeck Academy has created a comprehensive infrastructure and has combined it with an environment conducive to the development of each area of a child's persona, with an objective of creating a Scientific attitude a creative bent of mind and a sensitive human being in him.

Our Objectives


   The total program at Peetabeck Academy addresses

the whole child emphasizing the development of total

personality. Our objectives are:


§ To stimulate and satisfy the child's curiosity about his

   environment and provide opportunity to discover and explore

   with hands-on material.
§ To introduce the child to the joys of learning through  

   companionship and recreational activities.
§ To orient the child to develop self confidence, self

   dependability, honesty and social skills through group

   interaction.
§ To channelize his energy through recreational activities.
§ To develop the child's ability to express his thoughts and

   feelings in a fluent language and in a confident manner.
§ To inculcate good habits, social manners and etiquettes

   among children.
